3009793 - Not Able To Enable Externally-Managed Location Flag For A Site

While trying to select the Externally Managed Location flag for a Site you get the error - It is not possible to change the externally managed location indicator. Documents related to inbound logistics, outbound logistics, and purchasing still exists for this location.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Supply Chain Design Master Data work center.
2. Navigate to the Locations view.
3. Search for the relevant site/location which you want to uncheck and choose the Edit button.
4. In the Edit screen, check the Externally Managed Location flag.
5. You get the following error message, It is not possible to change the externally managed location indicator. Documents related to inbound logistics, outbound logistics, and purchasing still exists for this location. 

• When a site needs to be marked as externally managed (3PL) there are certain restrictions that apply to the site.
• The site cannot have Location Layout nor a Storage Location below it.
• When you select the relevant site, you can see that the Edit Layout button is enabled. This means that there is a location under the selected site.
• As there is location layout for the site, you will not be able to enable the Externally Managed Location flag for the site. 

You have to create a new Site and have the Externally Managed Location enabled for the same.
