3011105 - How is the GL Account Derived When the Business Residence is Sales Unit?

Symptom

You have created a Sales Order, a follow up Goods and Activity Confirmation(GAC) and the G/L Accounts of Journal Entry related to GAC is picked up as per Account Determination Group(ADG) under Inventories.

You have later changed the ADG on the Material and have created a Sales order, a GAC but the G/L Accounts that are considered does not change.

You want to know the logic on how the G/L Accounts are dervied in the Journal Entry created for GAC created as a follow up of Sales Order.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Order Work center.
  2. Go to the Sales Orders view.
  3. Show All Orders and Find the Sales Order ID.
  4. Select the Sales OrderID and Choose Edit.
  5. Choose View All.
  6. Go to the Document Flow.

You can see the Goods and Activity Confirmation and the Journal Entry Created.

Resolution

The Account Determination Group that is fetched for the G/L Accounts considered in Journal Entry for Goods and Activity Confirmation is as follows:

Journal Entry Item 1:
This is an Inventory item and is posted to G/L Account configured under Account Determination Group which is maintained in Material Master Data under the Valuation tab for the Combination of Company and Business Residence.

Journal Entry Item 2:
The system takes into consideration of this Business Residence via the following Logic:
The Business Residence for this Journal Entry Item is derived from the Business Residence of the Sales Unit.
You can check the Involved Parties tab in Sales order
You will get to know the Sales unit. When you check this Sales Unit, you will get to know the Business Residence that is associated with the Sales unit

So, When you check this Combination of Company and Business Residence in Material Master Data then the ADG is determined and the GL Account maintained under Material Consumption against this ADG will be derived.
