Symptom
You have received a Health Check related to a business task where the system cannot determine an appropriate user to whom the items can be distributed.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Application and User Management work center.
- Select the Business Task Management view.
- Show: Unassigned Items.
- Select the task for Opportunity ABC (ABC represents the ID of the Opportunity).
- In the details section open the Application log XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the Application Log).
- You can see the following error:
Business task is inconsistent - no valid responsible person/organization.
Searching for manager in org structure:
Manager must be a reporting line unit manager.
Manager must be manager for the following employees: (DEF) (DEF represents the ID of the employee). - Go to the New Business work center.
- Select the Opportunity List view
- Open Opportunity ABC.
You can see that the Employee Responsible is DEF. - Go to the Application and User Management work center.
- Select the Business User view.
- Select user DEF.
In the Details section you can see that no Manager is assigned to the user.
Cause
If an opportunity remains too long in a certain phase, then it is said to be stalled. In this case, the system notifies the manager of the sales representative who is responsible for the opportunity.
Generally, the relevant sales manager receives this notification in his/her Inbox in the Home work center. In case the manager is not maintained for the employee responsible the task cannot be assigned and appears in the Unassigned Items.
Resolution
This is the system expected behavior.
You need to either maintain the manager of the employee responsible or manually assign a respective user to the task.
