Symptom
Product Category is not being derived from sales order and shows as not assigned in G/L Line Items report.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to General Ledger work center.
- Go to Journal Entries view.
- Find the related journal entry.
- Open the JE and open report G/L account - Line items from this journal entry.
- In the report, bring the Product Category characteristic to the rows.
You see that the value is shows as # Not Assigned. You expect the report to show the product category being derived from the sales order reference, assigned to the journal entry item.
Cause
The report does not derive the Product nor Product Category from the sales order reference.
Resolution
When you open the menu to add new characteristics to the rows, you notice that some characteristics have an increased indent, being shown below another characteristic. For example:
This means that the Product Category, in this example, would be derived - if available - from the project task reference.
By checking the available product categories in the G/L Accounts - Line items report, we see that the report has not been designed to derive the product category from a sales order reference.
