Symptom
When opening a model from SAC in Analysis for Office, the following exception/error occurs:

Environment
SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office
Reproducing the Issue
- Start Analysis Office;
- Insert Data Source;
- Logon to SAC;
- Open the SAC Model;
- Confirm the exception/error "A runtime exception has occurred while trying to process the result set... Allocation failed";
Cause
The issue occurs because when opening the SAC Model in AO, the default selection is to have all Versions in the Columns and all Measures/Accounts in the Rows. This can be too much based on the Model's design.
Resolution
In order to avoid the memory issue, the steps below can be followed:
- In Analysis Office, click on "Pause Refresh" before inserting the SAC Model;
- Insert the Model;
- Apply the desired filters;
- Click again on "Pause Refresh" to unpause the refresh.
