Symptom

When opening a model from SAC in Analysis for Office, the following exception/error occurs:

Environment

SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Start Analysis Office;
  2. Insert Data Source;
  3. Logon to SAC;
  4. Open the SAC Model;
  5. Confirm the exception/error "A runtime exception has occurred while trying to process the result set... Allocation failed";

Cause

The issue occurs because when opening the SAC Model in AO, the default selection is to have all Versions in the Columns and all Measures/Accounts in the Rows. This can be too much based on the Model's design.

Resolution

In order to avoid the memory issue, the steps below can be followed:

  1. In Analysis Office, click on "Pause Refresh" before inserting the SAC Model;
  2. Insert the Model;
  3. Apply the desired filters;
  4. Click again on "Pause Refresh" to unpause the refresh.
