3015216 - Changes to Dynamic and exit variabls aren not reflected for background exports in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

When performing a background export, changes made to the value of dynamic or exit variables used on a chart/table level are not reflected

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (All versions)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a story off of a data source that has dynamic or exit variables.
  2. Create a chart, and click on “Edit Chart Prompts” icon.
  3. In the opened dialog, switch from “Use story variables” to “Set Chart Variables” and ensure “Disable dynamic variables” option is not selected:

  4. Change the answer for one of the dynamic or exit variables.
  5. Perform a background export and notice the changes are not reflected.

Cause

This is currently a design limitation of exporting stories in the background.

Resolution

Exporting the story in the foreground will reflect the changes to chart/table dynamic and exit variables.
