3015981 - ASE hangs due to infinite looping with pg__allocate_syslogs_extent on stack trace - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE server has a single engine thread configured. In some periods, ASE hangs without an error.
  • The stack trace reported on memory dump (manual) reports the following functions:
    kpsuspend
    upyield
    pg__allocate_syslogs_extent
    pg_allocate_syslogs
    log__newpage
    plcblock__flush
    plc__flush
    xls_pre_alloc_numclrs
    dol_logdml
  • Parameter 'user log cache queue size' is enabled.
