3016339 - Free Cost Objects in Sales Order

You want to tag Free Cost Objects in Sales Order as part of tracking revenue and do not see an option in SAP Business ByDesign.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
2. Go to the Overview view.
3. Search and select the Account Assignment Types activity.
4. Click Maintain Account Assignment Types.
5. Select the Account Assignment Type XXX(represents Account Assignment Type)
6. Navigate to the Account Assignment tab(COST_OBJECT_KEY - Cost Object ID is mandatory here)
7. Navigate to the Assignment to Business Transactions.
8. Click Add Row.

You can see that sales order is not available for selection here.

The free cost object cannot be assigned directly to a sales order.

It can be assigned to

• Purchase Request, Purchase Order, Supplier Invoice, Supplier invoice request,
• Customer Invoice Request, Customer Invoice,
• Expense Report, Expense Arrangement,
• Goods and Service Receipt,
• Shopping Cart
• Cash Flow Expense and Receipt Explanation (Journal entry voucher)

Currently it is not possible to assign a free cost object to a sales order.

You have to either assign a free cost object to a customer invoice request or customer invoice.
