3018412 - Timesheet allows more than 24 hours per day

Symptom

  • Whereas when they try the same using mobile device, it throws an error "Time entry exceeds 24 hours. Please update this entry"
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Timesheet

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Employee's Time Sheet
  2. For any particular day, enter more than 24 hours
  3. System allows you to enter more than 24 hours and does not throw any hard coded error message
  4. If you perform the same steps through SF mobile application, system does not allow you to submit that timesheet

Cause

This is expected behavior

Resolution

  • Duration-based recordings should be without a limit. This means, the system should allow more than 24 hours is desired behavior and as per design.
  • There has been no “24 hour per day restriction” for duration from the start of the Time Sheet in EC - in order to support simple business cases such as employees paid per hour on a weekly basis. In these scenarios it would be sufficient to enter the sum of working hours on the last day (e.g. 41 hours on Friday)
  • The validation that appears in the Mobile device is currently expected. After checking the complications and impact of the removing validation, engineering will try to enhance the behavior with MOB-48823.
  • If you wish to have a 24 hours restriction within the SF system all the time, create a validation rule to check this and trigger an error through Validation rule OR Time Valuation.
