3018819 - Block devices are not supported in the current HADR design. - SAP HADR

Symptom

  • The parameter (simple_persistent_queue_dir/device_buffer_dir) specified to block device in the HADR response file will be ignored during HADR setup.
    and the related parameters (device_buffer_size/simple_persistent_queue_size) will be ignored as well.

  • The following default value will be used duirng HADR setup.

    simple_persistent_queue_dir =SYBASE_install_dir/<sid>/data
    simple_persistent_queue_size=20000

    device_buffer_dir=SYBASE_install_dir/<sid>/data
    device_buffer_size=20000

  • RMA command sap_add_device command cannot add a block device.
