Symptom

  • After disabling compression on table
  • Update index statistics fails, even after truncating the table and re-inserted the data.

    Msg 2799, Level 16, State 19:
    Server 'servername', Line 1:
    'UPDATE STATISTICS' command failed because 'COMPRESSION' is not enabled.
    A user with System Administrator (SA) role must reconfigure 'enable compression' to 1.
