3022023 - SAPUI5: Variants cannot save as default

Symptom

When saving a variant as the default variant in an SAPUI5 application, the user sees the error message like "Data cannot be loaded", and:

  • In the browser console log, following error is present:
    '_save' failed
  • HTTP error 400 on post to /sap/bc/lrep/changes... with error in response:
    "Namespace not filled"
