Symptom
You try to edit a Fixed Asset and you can see the following error: "Unable to create new depreciation values as balance carryforward is already executed for company ABC and set of books DEF for fiscal year YYYY; retry after reversing the balance carryforward run".
(ABC represents the company ID, DEF represents the Set Of Books ID and YYYY represents the fiscal year).

Reproducing the Issue
You can see this error via a Fixed Asset:
- Go to the Fixed Asset work center.
- Select the view Fixed Asset.
- Search and find Fixed Asset GHI. (GHI represents the Fixed Asset ID).
- Select Edit.
The Fixed Asset will open but on the bottom of the screen you will see the error message: "Unable to create new depreciation values as balance carryforward is already executed for company ABC and set of books DEF for fiscal year YYYY; retry after reversing the balance carryforward run"
You can also see this error on the latest depreciation run:
- Go to the Fixed Asset work center.
- Select the view Depreciation.
- Search and find Depreciation Run ID JKL. (JKL represents the Run ID).
- Select the Log Results.
- Go to the Messages Tab.
Here we can see the error message "Unable to create new depreciation values as balance carryforward is already executed for company ABC and set of books DEF for fiscal year YYYY; retry after reversing the balance carryforward run" appear for all the Fixed Assets that were selected in the run.
Cause
The reason this error appears is because only Step 1 of the Balance Carry Forward Run has been completed. Before Step 2 has been finished a depreciation correction run was completed.
You can see in the depreciation run Period/Year is 999/9999 - which means it is a recalculation run.
Resolution
Complete Step 2 of the Balance Carry Forward Run.
Close the Period and Fiscal Year.
