Error received when performing Mass Print and Save on Candidate Application

"The following files could not be processed due to errors. You can download these files from the applicant profile:" (File Name)

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

1. On the job requisition, select the candidate application with attachments
2. Click Action
3. Click Print or Save
4. Click Print/Download
5. Error message "The following files could not be processed due to errors. You can download these files from the applicant profile" appears

The challenge here is that there are so many PDF generators (sources) available, that not all PDF tools will be able to read and merge them into one PDF (mass Print or Save).

Common reasons for the failure to merge can include but is not limited to the following:

• PDF is encrypted and requires a password to unlock
• PDF has a security method maintained (Viewable by opening the document in Adobe Reader DC -> File -> Properties -> Security -> Details)
• PDF has the following security setting enabled: Document Assembly: Not Allowed (Viewable by opening the document in Adobe Reader DC -> File -> Properties -> Security -> Details)
• PDF is corrupted (the file will not open when downloaded manually OR when opened will visually appear corrupted and distorted)

Proposed workaround:
1. Try opening any of these PDF files in Chrome browser
2. Click on the Print button, and save as PDF
3. Now, try uploading the newly saved PDF files as resume or cover letter for the candidate
4. Test Print or Save functionality
5. You should be able to download the merged PDF document with no issues

If corrupted, the file will not be fixed with solution above and will require to be uploaded again without corruption.

To mitigate the possibility of this occurring and to reduce manual workaround an instruction field can be added to the Candidate Profile or Job Requisition Application Templates requesting documents do not maintain security settings.
