3025679 - No email notification with "Notify me of refresh failures by email" turning on when the specific error “Previous refresh in progress. Please increase the refresh interval” occurs

Symptom

  • No email notification with "Notify me of refresh failures by email" turning on when the specific error “Previous refresh in progress. Please increase the refresh interval” occurs for recurring import models.
  • The setting "Notify me of refresh errors by email" works for all other errors except for this specific error.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2020.21.14

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Logon SAC.
  2. Open a model.
  3. Go to Data Management.
  4. Noticed an import job failed with “Previous refresh in progress. Please increase the refresh interval”.
  5. Didn't get email notification although the "Notify me of refresh failures by email" is turning on. 

Cause

This is by design.

Resolution

It is by design that the email notification is not sent for this particular error "Previous refresh in progress. Please increase the refresh interval."

The reason this is designed as this way is because that a previous schedule that is currently in progress should not be deemed as an indication that has gone wrong with the schedule itself. For example the schedule likely will finish later but successfully. The email notification feature is rather for monitoring of schedules that are actually repeatedly
failing due to real issues such as credentials for the connection has changed or there are connectivity issues.
