3026628 - Error: 'Cannot map different source fields to the same target field' display in Crystal Reports for Enterprise

Symptom

  • Field shows incorrect values.
  • When adding specific dimensions on a report, one dimension shows incorrect values.
  • When refreshing a report  based on a Universe (UNX) in Crystal Reports for Enteprise, a field, shows the data of another field.
  • When selecting "Edit Data Sources", it open the Query Panel, and the application crashes, with the error:

"Cannot map different source fields to the same target field. - [CRSDK00001016]
Caused by: Cannot map different source fields to the same target field. - [JRC00005434]
Caused by: Cannot map different source fields to the same target field. - [JRC00005434]"

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.2

  • Data Source: Universe (UNX)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports for Enterprise, create a new report based on a Universe (UNX)
  2. In the Query Panel, add at least 2 dimensions to the report.
  3. When viewing the report, notice the data displayed is incorrect.
  4. When clicking on "Edit Query", Crystal Reports for Enterprise crash with the error:

"Cannot map different source fields to the same target field. - [CRSDK00001016]"

Cause

  • Conflict of two potentially corrupted dimensions in the Universe.

Resolution

  • In the Universe, make a copy of the Dimension displaying the wrong data on the report, and use the new Dimension on the report.

    1. In the Information Design Tool (IDT), import the Universe (UNX)

    2. Copy the Dimension that shows incorrect data.

    3. Rename the original Dimension to avoid using it in any new report.

    4. Republish the Universe to the SAP BusinessObjects Repository.

    5. In Crystal Reports for Enterprise, when creating a new report based on the Universe, add the new Dimension to the report, instead of using the original corrupted Dimension.
