3030016 - SUM hangs in phase READ_SHAREDINPUT in ABAP stack with no errors seen for a dual-stack system

Symptom

  • When performing an upgrade on a dual-stack system using Software Update Manager (SUM), it hangs on phase MOD_SELROADMAP/READ_SHAREDINPUT for ABAP stack.

  • ABAP stack shows it is spinning with message: 
    Process waiting for Java stack

  • JAVA stack shows message: 
    Welcome to the Software Update Manager
    ...
    Detected SAP NetWeaver system
    System Technology   Dual Stack system
    System ID                <SID>
    System Directory      /usr/sap/<SID>
    [ Back ]    [ Next ]    [ Cancel ]

  • There are no error messages seen.
