3032185 - Change of plan activity cost rate in APP Manage Cost Rates - Plan is not considered during new confirmation postings

The plan activity cost rate has been changed in APP Manage Cost Rates - Plan.
The new plan activity cost rate is not considered during new confirmation postings in APP Confirm Production Order Operation.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

1. Maintain new plan cost rate in APP Manage Cost Rates - Plan, then post a confirmation in APP Confirm Production Order Operation.
2. Check the cost in APP Display Production Orders, found that the new plan activity cost rate is not considered during new confirmation postings.

The activity update is set to '2' (Activity update relevant to price determination) in the relevant plant by default in S/4HANA Cloud system, which means the plan cost rate that is used for the first confirmation in a period is written to the Material Ledger table and is used for all other confirmations in that period. This cost rate is “frozen”. The plan activity cost rate needs to be stable during one period.

The plan cost rate still can be changed in APP Manage Cost Rates - Plan. However, the change does not have any effect for the rate used during confirmation.
This is not inconsistency but the design of the system with activity update '2'. The differences between plan activity cost rate and actual activity cost rate are distributed directly to the materials in step “Settlement” in APP Edit Actual Costing Runs.
