3036270 - Error While Trying to Reopen the Quantity for Third-Party Purchase Request Document

You have created a third party purchase request and want to reopen the quantities for further processing, however system shows an error message while trying to reopen the quantity.

Error - Purchase req. is a third-party item; cannot be reopened by buyer

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Purchase Requests and Orders work center 
2. Go to the Purchase Requests view
3. Select the relevant Purchase Request 
4. Select Actions button and Reopen Quantity 
5. Error appears

In case of third party scenario, once an item is cancelled and cancellation message will be send to predecessor. It is not allowed to reopen it again, because it can create an inconsistency. For Example: It can be purchased internally in the meantime and reopen the purchase request item can lead to severe inconsistencies.

In this scenario, once the Purchase request is cancelled in third-party company scenario, we expect you to reject the corresponding Sales Order item and create a new Sales Order item which will create new open Purchase Request item.
