3038138 - Error "Memory allocation failed" when doing a live connection to a Hana view in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

When trying to run a Hana view through SAC, you get the error:

"[Error] Server: (#42014) Caught exception : exception 70000009: Memory allocation failed;exception 1000002: Allocation failed ; \$size\$=123456789; \$name\$=Results; \$type\$=pool; \$inuse_count\$=17; \$allocated_size\$=9876543210; \$alignment\$=8; \$failure_type\$=PROCESS_ALLOCATION_LIMIT; \$failure_flag\$=
,Exception in executor plan123456@<server name>:<port number> while executing pop 9
app.chunk.7.slice_of_main-chunk.4d81567865f1e765cd80.js:20 2021-01-01 12:01:23.456789 Code: 42014 Text: The query was stopped before it finished because the server was unable to complete the request. Please try filtering your data, or contacting your administrator."

If you extract the MDS query from the HAR file (KBA 2691501 and KBA 2550833 ) and run the MDS query directly on the Hana server you will get the same error.

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2021.2.8

1. Create Hana calculation view
2. Create live model based on the view in SAC
3. Create a story based on the model and attempt to get data. 

This issue occurs if the statement_memory_limit property on the Hana Server is set too low for the query to be run.

Increase the "statement_memory_limit" property on the Hana server to a larger value so the query can be run.
