Symptom
While Post Goods Receipt against purchase order when a user enters an Identified Stock, system throws below error:
The identified stock must not be assigned to a product specification

Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Inbound Logistics work center.
- Go to Purchase Orders view and search relevant Purchase Order ID.
- Select and choose Post Goods Receipt.
- Choose Propose Quantities and then choose Identified stock ID via value selection.
- However, you find that it displays no results though Istock exists for a relevant product.
- Now enter Identified Stock ID manually and press enter.
- Here system throws an error: "The identified stock must not be assigned to a product specification"
Cause
Since relevant Identified Stock ID is assigned to a Product Specification ID, it is not listed in value selection and also not allowed by the system to be used during the Post Good Receipt process. Use an Identified Stock ID without any PRS ID associated with it during the inbound process.
Resolution
- Go to Warehousing and Logistics Master Data work center.
- Go to the Common Tasks view and choose the New IDentified Stock subview.
- Enter relevant Product ID and required details without any PRS ID.
- Perform Save, new Identified Stock ID gets generated.
- Once a new ID gets generated now Go to the Inbound Logistics work center.
- Go to Purchase Orders view and search relevant Purchase Order ID.
- Select and choose Post Goods Receipt.
- Choose Propose Quantities and then choose Identified stock ID via value selection as it is listed.
- Select it and perform save without any error message.
