Reproducing the Issue
In Manage Journal Entries App the fields are not visible
Cause
Fields needs to be added manually. There are several ways to do so.
Resolution
- Standard fields: these are added by default to the app layout
- Custom fields
To add customized fields the custom fields app needs to be used.
Once the field is created it can be added in two different ways.
A) In the Custom Fields App
1. Go to Custom Fields App
2. Click Create (+)
3. Add details
The Business Context determines in which part the data will appear on the screen. There are three ways in this case:
- Accounting: Coding block
- Accounting: Journal Entry Item
- Accounting: Market Segment – customer related data
4. Click Create
5. Go to UIs and Reports tab
6. Select Report name
7. Click Enable and Save
8. Click Publish
Custom fields added to the Accounting: Coding Block and Accounting: Market Segment business context are enabled for the app Manage Journal Entries. They will be present as standard in the account assignment segment of the Manage journal entries
A field added using the Coding Block business context is included not only to the journal entry but also in related business objects outside of Finance that are part of a business process. The value for such a field can be filled initially once the user interface and the value is then passed to the follow-on documents. This kind of custom fields is typically added to transactions that, in the end, result in a journal entry.
B) Creating fields with UI Adaption within in the App
1. Open Manage Journal Entries App
2. Select one entry
3. Select 'Adapt UI' in Profile dropdown
4. UI Adaption bar appears on the top of the screen
5. Right click one of the sections in the header
6. Click 'Add field'
7. Select Field from popup list
8. Press OK
9. Click Save & Exit
Note that custom fields are only available in the Ledger View of the Manage Journal Entries App
