3043138 - Cannot open pid file </usr/sap/SID/HDB02/<hostname>//lock/hdbdaemon@<daemonservice_port>.<pid>

Symptom

A HANA Database system is failing to start.
Within the daemon trace file, these entries are observed in between service restarts and general system unavailibility :

"Cannot open pid file </usr/sap/SID/HDB02/<hostname>//lock/hdbdaemon@<daemonservice_port>.<pid>: 2 (No such file or directory) "

"e DaemonClient Client.cpp(00820) : Cannot read daemon pid from its lock file "/usr/sap/SID/HDB02/<hostname>/lock/hdbdaemon@<daemonservice_port>.pid""
