3044333 - Error when importing data from zip via Live Profile Import job

System throws the error: "IOException happened when importing data from zip." when trying to import data via Live Profile Import job, that runs in the back-end.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Profile

1. Set up and run a Live Profile Import job in Provisioning;
2. See that it fails with the following error: "IOException happened when importing data from zip.":
   
   
   
   

This error can be caused by several reasons, such as:

1. There is a subfolder inside the zip file;
2. There is no .csv file inside the zip, only attachments;
3. The Excel file containing the background data was saved as ".xls" or ".xlsx" format, instead of ".csv";
4. The Excel file containing the background data, or one of the attachment files, contains special, non-ASCII characters in the name or content, which is not supported for live profile import.

1. According to KBA 2218874, no subfolders are allowed in the zip file. So, in order to fix that, please make sure the files (.csv and attachments) are zipped by following the steps below:
   
   • Put the .csv and the attachments together;
     
     
     
     
   • Select them;
     
     
     
     
   • Zip them (the correct option might vary according to system's configuration and available application);
     
     
     
     
   • See the .zip file will be available;
     
     
     
     
   • With no subfolder:
     
     
     
     
     
2. Please make sure the .csv file that contains the background data is also in the zip file;
   
   
3. Please make sure the Excel that contains the background data is saved as "Comma delimited": ".csv". No other extensions are allowed;
   
   
4. Please make sure all attachment files are named with ASCII characters, special characters are not supported for live profile import.
