3044399 - Workbook variants are not copied with the workbooks in BI Platform

You have an Analysis Office workbook with an associated variant saved in BI Platform. When you copy this workbook in one of the below ways, the variant is not copied with the workbook:

• copy the workbook with variant from one BI Platform environment to a different BI Platform environment;
• copy the workbook with variant to the same BI Platform environment.

Either transport the workbook with saved variants stored in BI Platform to another BI Platform environment or copy it to the same BI Platform (right-click workbook in CMC, choose Organize and Copy To).

This is working as designed and it is not a bug.

When a workbook is saved in BI Platform, the variants associated to the same are also saved in BI Platform, but linked to the workbook's unique ID.

When a workbook is copied, a new ID is generated and the variants are not available for the newly created workbook. The variants are always workbook specific.

This is valid for any workbook copy: either transporting a workbook from one BI Platform environment to another and also for copies stored in the same BI Platform.
