3045197 - 1H-2021: MDF feature - Object Categories in Metadata Framework

• You can't modify the object category of standard or pre-delivered objects. Position is a standard or pre-delivered object.
• You can't configure the object category as Non-User Transactional because the external code field is of type User.
• You can't configure the object category for cust_XXX because the Effective Dating is "From Parent".
• Not able to change the object category for standard pre-delivered MDF object

• SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite
• Metadata framework (MDF)

1) Go to Admin Center  Configure Object Definition.

2) Search for a pre-delivered object. For example, Position.

3) Choose Make Correction and select Technical from the Object Category dropdown. Choose Save.

==> An error message is displayed= "You can't modify the object category of standard or pre-delivered objects. Position is a standard or pre-delivered object.

Similar error statements as mentioned in Symptoms section above.

SAP SuccessFactors Metadata Framework has introduced a new object attribute called Object Category. This new field is available in Configure Object Definition page.

The following object categories are supported:

• Uncategorized
• Configuration
• Non-User Transactional
• User Transactional
• Technical

As the message says - You cannot modify the object category of standard or pre-delivered objects (for example - Position) 

Similarly,

==> You can't configure the object category for an object if the Effective Dating is From Parent.

==> You can't configure the object category as Non-User Transactional if the external code field is of type User.

One example where you will be allowed to save the configurations is, if you set an object definition that has following properties:

effective dating =Basic

external code = User datatype

Object Category = User Transactional.
