3046169 - Error 'Unexpected period at character XX' When Trying to Create UI Rule

Symptom

You created a UI rule in adaptation mode, however when trying to save it you receive a system error:

"Technical Error: Unexpected period at character XX." (XX represents a number)

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Sales Order View (or any other screen you would like to adapt).
  2. Enter into any object.
  3. Start Adaptation.
  4. Drill down into Rule and Validation.
  5. Add Rule.
  6. Write your code.
  7. Save it.

Cause

There is a wrong character in the typed rule.

Resolution

This kind of error points to some mistake made in the rule. The system does not allow to create rules when it detects some problem in it.

Here in this case it is saying there is a period that should not be in that place in the position XX.

Review your code in the mentioned character position to correct the problem.
