3047102 - Validation of Matrix Manager field when importing UDF

Symptom

Inactive or non-existing user can be imported successfully as a Matrix Manager value by importing UDF (User Data File);
User does not have a Matrix Manager to enter in UDF.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

There has 2 scenarios：

Import an inactive user as a Matrix Manager

1.In UDF, user will find inactive user can be imported successfully, system will not do pre-validation of this column.

2.In Admin Center > Manage User, the Inactive user's Name will display in corresponding user's Matrix Manager field

Import a USERID that does not exist in system as a Matrix Manager

1.In UDF, user will find this USERID can be imported successfully, system will not do pre-validation of this column.

2.In Admin Center > Manage User, corresponding user's Matrix Manager field is blank

Cause

This is part of the system design:

SuccessFactors will not validate Matrix Manager column's data when performing the UDF import, thus after importing UDF, user will find that even inactive user or a user that does not exist in system can also be imported successfully.

After importing, in Manage User's UI, Matrix Manager field will has the inactive user's Name or null value.

Resolution

Since system will not validate Matrix Manager column's data when performing the UDF import, please make sure that your data of Matrix Manager field is an active user or if a user has no Matrix Manager, leave the field blank, as it is not mandatory.
