3047116 - Hanging processes with function th_sleep_on_syncbit on the stacks on shared-disk cluster -- SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Multiple ASE instances were running as a shared-disk cluster.

  • Some processes were hanging, no process could update transactions or syslogs in a database.

  • Hanging processes had function th_sleep_on_syncbit on the stacks, killing the processes couldn’t terminate them.
  • One of log segment in the database had bit SEG_FREEZE set, space usage was put in ‘FREEZE' state.
