Symptom
Got an error when creating a live tunnel connection to SAP BW system in SAC:
- If using single sign on authentication, get error "You were not automatically logged on to the remote data source. Please ask your administrator to verify the SAML Single Sign On configuration."
- If using username and password authentication, get error: "Unable to authenticate. Please ensure your credentials are valid."
Error "401 not authorized" in response when accessing url "https://<SAC tenant URL>/lcs/scc/tunnel/<connection name>/sap/bw/ina/GetServerInfo?sap-client=<client number>"

- SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to the SAC tenant.
- Go to the connection and create a new live data connection to BW and select tunnel type.
- Enter all the required information like host and port
- If using the Username and Password authentication, you may get the error when saving the connection "Unable to authenticate. Please ensure your credentials are valid."
- If using SAML Single Sign On authentication, you may get the error "You were not automatically logged on to the remote data source. Please ask your administrator to verify the SAML Single Sign On configuration."
Cause
- The logon order is not set correctly for Alternative Logon Order for service GetServerInfo in BW.
Resolution

Configure the Alternative Logon Order the same as described in the help guide:
AS ABAP Authentication Infrastructure
- Logon Using HTTP Fields
- Logon with SSL Certificate
- Logon with SAP Logon/Assertion Ticket
- Logon with SAP Assertion Ticket
- HTTP Basic Authentication
- Logon Using SAP User and Password (RFC Logon)
- Logon Using SAML
- Logon Using User Data Stored in Service
- Note:
For basic authentication, please make sure "HTTP Basic Authentication" is before "Logon Using SAML".
For SAML Single Sign On authentication, please make sure "Logon with SSL Certificate" is before "Logon Using SAML".
