3048885 - How to change the expired useful life of an asset - S/4HANA Cloud Public edition

It is required to change the expired useful life of an asset, however the field 'Expired useful life' is greyed out in Edit mode.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public edition

1. Enter app Manage Fixed Assets
2. Search for the Asset number
3. Enter Valuation view
4. Go to Edit mode
5. Field 'Expired useful life' is greyed out

The field is automatically calculated by the system when the Balance carryforward is executed and it starts counting from the date maintained in field 'Depreciation start date'.

The field became editable if you manually change the 'Depreciation start date' to a later date.

Before the system allows you to save, some warning messages will come, go through them carefully.

Once the Depreciation start date has been changed the 'Expired useful life' field will became editable.
