3050557 - ASE may quit with "Unknown reason" in the errorlog or you may see signal 11 in Nsql::Close() - SAP ASE 16.0

Symptom

  • Clients receives Errors 712 "insufficient heap memory".
  • On Windows, the ASE server may silently quit with a message in the errorlog which simply says:

Unknown reason

  • On other platforms, there may also be a signal 11 error with a stack trace in the errorlog:

Current process (0x37001c) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
Address 0x0x00000000012dc995 (Nsql::Close()+0x9), siginfo (code, address) = (1, 0x0x000000000000006c)

  • The stack trace includes the functions:

Nsql::Close
PtlSqlx::ToSqlx

ToSqlx
bi__tosqlx
