3051057 - Unable to launch the EPM add-in via the BPC Web page

Symptom

When launching the EPM Add-in via the BPC Web page one of the following error messages may be observed:

  • EPM Add-in Launcher has stopped working.
  • Call was rejected by calee. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010001 (RPC_E_CAL_REJECTED))

or:

  • EPM Add-in Launcher has stopped working.
  • Could not find the launched Office application [Excel].

The following errors may be found in the EPM Add-in trace logs:

  • Automation|FPMXLClient.EPMAddInAutomation.PushActionsByValue|---|||||13|System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010105): The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT))
  • FPMXLClient|FPMXLClient.Office.ExcelApplication.PerformAutomationRegistration|---|||||1|System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8002000B): Invalid index. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002000B (DISP_E_BADINDEX))

Or Excel may start but the EPM Add-in is not loaded or the EPM tab is not visible in the Excel ribbon or the EPM Add-in connections screen is not loaded on startup and therefore the SSO log in to BPC is not possible.
