• When creating a sales order, the plant of the sales order item is not determined automatically.
• When creating a sales order, the determined plant of the sales order item is not the expected one.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Create a sales order using the "Create Sales Orders - VA01" app or "Manage Sales Orders" app.
2. Input a material and its order quantity on item level and press "Enter".
3. The plant of the item is not determined automatically.

Or

1. Create a sales order using the “Create Sales Orders - VA01” app or “Manage Sales Orders” app.
2. Input different materials and their quantities on item level and press "Enter".
3. Different plants are determined for these items. Some of the plants are not the expected ones.

This is standard behavior.

The delivering plant for the sales order item is automatically determined following the below sequence:

1. The customer-material info record maintained in the "Manage Customer Materials" app.
2. The customer master record of the ship-to party maintained in the "Manage Customer Master Data" app.
3. The material master record maintained in the "Manage Product Master Data" app.
4. If no record found, no plant will be determined for the sales document item.

Please be noticed that the auto-determined delivering plant can later be changed manually.
