3052345 - Employment Details Import : "Internal System error encountered while importing record"

Symptom

  • An Error Message comes up on Employment Details Import: "Internal System error encountered while importing record"
  • This is when you use "&&NO_OVERWRITE&&" as a value for Start date / Hire date

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
    • Import Employee Data

Reproducing the Issue

If you already have the template populated to be imported:

  1. Go to Import Employee Data page
  2. Select e.g. Employment Details option
  3. Upload

Cause

  • start-date or hire-date is a business key field.
  • A valid value is required to be provided by the import user and NO_OVERWRITE should not be provided.

Resolution

Don't use the tag &&NO_OVERWRITE&& for business key fields like hire-date.
