3053840 - Party Determination Z-Role of Territory Team

Symptom

The party determination step two (Z-Role of Territory Team) for a Z-PartyRole does not work.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

This is an example, a similar issue can occur in other objects:

Prerequisites:

You have created a Z-Role ABC and maintained this for the object, in our example Sales Quotes.

This Z-Role ABC is active on our example account DEF in the Territory Team (ABC, DEF represent the names).

Account DEF has a Sales Territory Team with Z-party role 'ABC' maintained).

In the business configuration fine tuning settings, the party role ABC is active, with the following determination and responsibility role is active, based on 'Other Party'

- Following set up for party determination:

  • Use Rules
  • ABC of Territory Team (Take over all parties)
  • Responsibility ABC
  1. Create a Sales Quote for account DEF for data which does NOT match any of the rules which were set up.

  2. Result: When creating a sales quote, the Z-Party Role is not pulled in the quote.

Cause

The assumption that the step 'Use Rules' should be ignored and the determination jump to 'Z-Role of Territory Team' in this case, is wrong.

The behavior of the business rules framework (BRF) access step is a different than for other determination accesses:

the BRF is a kind of “gatekeeper”. Only if a valid rule is found the next access steps are executed (if no party ID is set by BRF).
Thus, if no valid entry in the rules is found for a document with the sales data that does NOT match the rules, the next access step via territory is NOT called.

This logic cannot be changed because it would be incompatible.

Resolution

Workaround if the party determination shall not be stopped by a BRF rule

Example:

Assume you have BRF rule 1:   Country/region US -> Party w. role XY / Party ID M123

If a document for country/region US is created: party role XY / party ID M123 is found
If a document for country/region FR is created: no BRF rule found -> no further determination steps for party role XY are executed

Workaround: introduce additional BRF rule 2: Country/region FR (and others) -> Party w. role XY (keep party ID initial)

If a document for country/region US is created: party role XY / party ID M123 is found
If a document for country/region FR is created: BRF rule found -> further determination steps for party role XY will be executed
