3057168 - Forward propagation Pay Component Recurring Import

We can  forward propagation for Compensation information imports is enabled:

1. Newly added Pay Component Recurring import will forward propagate.

2. DELIMIT of Pay Component Recurring import will forward propagate.

3. Pay Component Recurring correction import will not forward propagate.

• Activate the forward propagation for incremental import in RBP as Employee Central Import Settings -> Enable Forward Propagation during Incremental Import. This setting has not been changed and is still valid for Compensation Information import with Centralized Services.
• Perform import action for adding, DELIMIT & correction actions.

Enhanced in 2105 release.

Scenario 1

Newly added Pay Component Recurring import will forward propagate.

• Record 1: 01/01/2015 has Pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,460.88
• Record 2: 01/01/2016 has pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,525.49

           

• Insert a new Compensation information record effective from 12/01/2015 in between Record 1 and Record 2 via import.

           

• Now, import a new pay component recurring record and link it to compensation information record as of 12/01/2015 (created above). In our test example: Pay Component Code is MEAL_DE, Amount is 200, currency is EUR and Frequency is Monthly.

           

• Result: Newly added Pay Component Recurring record imported for Compensation information Dec 01, 2015 propagated to Jan 01, 2016.
  
  

Scenario 2

DELIMIT of PCRs will forward propagate.

• Record 1:  01/01/2015 has Pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,460.88
• Record 2: 12/01/2015 has Pay component MEAL_DE with amount as 200 (To be DELIMITED)
• Record 3: 01/01/2016 has pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,525.49
  
  

• Prepare the delimit file – In our test example: pay component recurring import for comp record 12/01/2015 with Pay component MEAL_DE.

         

• Result: Delimited Pay Component Recurring (MEAL_DE) from Compensation Information record Dec 01, 2015 propagated to Jan 01, 2016 record.

           
           

Scenario 3

Pay Component Recurring correction import will not forward propagate.

• Record 1:  05/06/2021 (May 6, 2021) has Pay component BASIC BZ with amount as 29000
• Record 2:  07/06/2021 (July 6, 2021) has pay component BASIC BZ with amount as 29000
  
  

• Insert a new Compensation information record effective from 06/06/2021 in between Record 1 and Record 2 via import.

                 

              

• Now, import pay component recurring with pay component, in our test example: as BASIC_BZ and link it to comp record as of 06/06/2021 (created above). Change the amount from 29000 -> 30000.

 
           

            

• Result: Pay Component recurring did not propagate value of Amount to July 06, 2021 record.

             

• One thing to consider for the imports:
  If a user has any data issues with regard to having Compensation Information which do not have a corresponding Recurring Pay Component record on that day.
  
  • Pay Component data is associated with Compensation Information effective dated records. When updating a user’s Compensation Information record via the UI, the system will automatically bring over the Compensation Information and associated Pay Component data from the previous Compensation Information record.
  • If updating the Compensation Information via Import is required, importing Pay Components again for that Compensation Information record is necessary  2084794 - Updating Compensation Information Data for an existing user via Import
  • If this has not been done, we recommend you correct this issue and align the effective dates of both the Compensation Information and Pay Component Recurring. To do this you will need to report on both the compensation information and recurring pay component information and correct either via a Full purge or Incremental import.

Scenario 4

Compensation Information and Pay Component Recurring Information import will not forward propagate

Compensation record 1: Oct 11 2023

Compensation record 2: Dec 01 2023

Pay Component Recurring (PCR) record 1: Oct 11 2023: Pay Component Annual Salary Amount 100,000 Currency USD

Pay Component Recurring (PCR) record 2: Dec 01 2023: Pay Component Annual Salary Amount 100,000 Currency USD

Import Compensation record 3: Oct 15 2023

Import Pay Component Recurring (PCR) record 3: Oct 15 2023: Pay Component Annual Salary Amount 200,000 Currency USD

The imports are successful and the user has now all 3 PCR records. However, the PCR record with effective date Dec 01 2023 has the following details: Pay Component Annual Salary Amount 100,000 Currency USD. Please note that the Amount has not forward propagated to 200,000.

This is an expected behaviour. When the customer imports Compensation Information, the system will automatically create a PCR time slice on Database. When the customer imports PCR after the Compensation Information import, the system will "Edit" the PCR time slice which was automatically created when performing the Compensation Information import. 

Forward Propagation will only take place when it is an "Insert" and not an "Edit". In customers case the PCR import is an "Edit" operation.  Therefore, no Forward Propagation will take place. If they want Forward Propagation to take place, they can directly import PCR without importing Compensation Information.
