Symptom
When confirm a return pick task, system doesn't propose source logistics area and quantity automatically. Even button Propose Quantities and Logistics Area is clicked, nothing is proposed.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Outbound Logistics work center.
- Go to the Task Control view.
- Find and select the relevant Task ID.
- Click the Confirm button.
- Under tab Line Items, Source Logistics Area has not been proposed even though in the relevant Logistics Model corresponding setting has been maintained.
- Select any line item.
- Click Propose Quantities and Logistics Areas.
- The system displays the following messages:
a. Line item 1: Action processed with warnings.
b. -----> Determination of source inventory failed for product ABC (ABC represents the Product ID).
c. ----------> Inventory in logistics area not available.
Cause
Cause A: In return pick task, checkbox Restricted is ticked by default, which means system is looking for restricted stock. However, now there is no corresponding restricted stock.
Cause B: Though there is corresponding restricted stock, logistics use "Restricted Stock" is not maintained in expected source logistics area.
Resolution
Solution A: Untick Restricted checkbox to proceed confirming the task, or set restricted flag for some unrestricted stock through common task Change of Stock, and then confirm the return pick task again.
Solution B: Ensure the logistics area which expected to be the source logistics area has logistics use "Restricted Stock".
