Symptom
You have created/migrated a fixed asset with a standard depreciation method (e.g. L010), however some depreciation periods are missing under Depreciation Overview tab for a given fiscal year.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Fixed Assets work center.
- Go to Fixed Assets view.
- Find and open the related asset.
- Go to Values tab.
- Go to Depreciation Overview.
You notice that some depreciation periods within the fiscal year are missing. For example, the depreciation is calculated every 2 months.
Cause
The system has calculated the depreciation for this asset, however the amount in a given fiscal period would be less than e.g. 0.5 cents. Due to arithmetic rounding set up in the valuation view of this asset, the system is rounding the depreciation in the periods and then it accumulates the difference in the subsequent period. Therefore, depending on the amount per period, depreciation can be cumulated in subsequent periods due to rounding.
Resolution
You can revise and adjust the rounding rules per valuation view in business configuration, as follows:
- Go to Business Configuration work center.
- Go to Implementation Projects view.
- Open the activity list.
- Find and open activity Fixed Assets Valuation View.
- Find the concerned valuation view.
- Go to Rounding Rules tab.
In this tab you are able to further adjust and/or deactivate the related rounding rules.
After you save your changes in this activity, you can perform a dummy change in the fixed asset (for example: change the depreciation method) so that the depreciation gets recalculated.
