3068353 - Stacked Chart won't sort on total in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

When creating a stacked chart with multiple stacked dimensions, the sorting is done based on the largest "slice" in the stack instead of on the total value of all the slices in a stack.   This issue only occurs when using BW as a datasource - it does not happen when using Hana.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2021

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a new story based on a Live BW datasource
  2. Create a stacked chart with multiple dimensions
  3. Note that the sorting is done by the largest value in each stack - not by the total of the entire stack.

Cause

This behavior is by design and is a limitation of the BW backend.

Resolution

A workaround is to enable the "Unbooked Data" option on the chart.
