Environment

SAP Business By Design

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Supply Planning work center.
  2. Select Products view.
  3. Select for Product Planning XXX/YYY.
  4. Click Open.
  5. Notice that the Inventory Days of Supply is 9999 Days.

Cause

The Inventory Days of Supply in Product Planning is basically the number of days which the sum of all your demand is covered by current material available in stock. The purpose of this field is to generate exceptions if it goes below minimum set in Product master data (Minimum Days of Supply field in Planning tab). If you have not set the Minimum Days of Supply in material master data, then the “Inventory Days of Supply” is just an indicator.

As an example, if you have 0 demand and 0 available stock, then your “Inventory Days of Supply” will be the maximum 9999 days. Or if you have the Available Stock covering the Total Demand, it will be 9999 days as well.

Resolution

As the Inventory Days of Supply considers the sum of demand and available stock, the system is working as expected.
