Symptom
When maintaining a Tax Exemption Certificate in a Sales Order Item with a manually maintained Price List, you notice that the Tax Exemption Certificate is not influencing the Tax Calculation for that Item.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Sales Orders work center.
- Open the Sales Orders view.
- Find Sales Order ABC (Where ABC Represents the Sales Order ID).
- Open it and click on the View All button.
- Navigate to the Pricing and Invoicing tab.
- You notice that one or more items have the List Price maintained manually.
- Navigate to the Items tab.
You notice that for items that are not maintained in Price Lists (Hence had their List Prices maintained manually in the Sales Order), the Tax Exemption Certificate is not being considered in the Tax Calculation/Determination.
Cause
This is the expected system behaviour. As that item is not maintained in a price List, the system considers the Net Value for the product as Zero and therefore with a Zero value there is no need of Tax Exemption.
Resolution
In this case, please maintain the Item(s) in a Price List and follow these steps:
- Go to the Sales Orders work center.
- Open the Sales Orders view.
- Find Sales Order ABC (Where ABC Represents the Sales Order ID).
- Open it and click on the View All button.
- Navigate to the Pricing and Invoicing tab.
- Click on the Update Pricing button and select the Completely option.
The system will then be able to use the Tax Exemption Certificate in the calculation.
