3070870 - Query performance issue after upgrading to 16 SP11.28 from version 15.4 - SAP IQ

Symptom

  • When selecting join algorithms for a right or full outer equijoin operator, if the join predicate was on varchar columns of the same declared length then the optimizer might not consider the predicate acceptable for hashing.
  • As a result, the optimizer either may not choose hash-based algorithms for the join or it could choose a hash join with a poorly-performant hash function based on a subset of the join columns.
