3071338 - Open file limitation mismatch between SAP HANA and operating system

Symptom

  • You notice the following error in the SAP HANA service trace files: 
    Generic stream error: NetworkChannel::acceptIntoSocket. accept faield - , rc=24: Too many open files
  • You found KBA 17111873 but it is not applicable to your scenario as it is restricted to SAP HANA 1.0, platform edition.
  • When you check the operating system via command "ulimit -n" and compare to the numbers that can be seen from SAP HANA via query SELECT VALUE FROM SYS.M_HOST_INFORMATION WHERE KEY = 'os_rlimit_nofile', the numbers are not the same
  • You want to know how to fix it
