Symptom
- This is a migration from ASE 15.5 to ASE 16.0;
- Installed new ASE 16.0 SP4;
- Loaded logins, roles etc from a 15.5 master database into the new server;
- Added new devices and created user database with for load option;
- Loaded db dump from 15.5 to 16.0;
- When trying to put the database online, the following errors are logged:
Database '<dbname>': beginning upgrade step [ID 246]: clear unused columns (table sysindexes)
Database '<dbname> ': beginning upgrade step [ID 248]: update system catalog protection data
Database '<dbname> ': beginning upgrade step [ID 1650]: Grant default permissions on system tables.
Database '<dbname> ': beginning upgrade step [ID 1651]: updating builtin permissions
Msg 2601, Level 16, State 6:
Server '<servername>', Line 1:
Attempt to insert duplicate key row in object 'sysprotects' with unique index 'csysprotects'
Msg 3461, Level 20, State 1:
Server '<servername> ', Line 1:
Database '<dbname>': upgrade could not install required upgrade item '1651'. Please refer to previous error messages to determine the problem. Fix the problem, then try again.
Msg 3451, Level 20, State 1:
Server '<servername> ', Line 1:
Database '<dbname> ': upgrade has failed for this database. Please refer to previous messages for the cause of the failure, correct the problem and try again.
Msg 3454, Level 20, State 1:
Server '<servername> ', Line 1:
Database '<dbname> ': ASE could not completely upgrade this database; upgrade item 1651 could not be installed.
Warning : Database '<dbname> ' may have text pages with uninitialized TIPSA flags. Run DBCC CHECKDB or DBCC CHECKSTORAGE to validate it.
Msg 3445, Level 18, State 1:
Server '<servername> ', Line 1:
ASE could not bring database '<dbname> ' online.
Command has been aborted.
