Symptom
- Is there a bcp option to keep the space padding on a char column when using bcp to export data?
- For example:
- bcp data is "WM" when the column is nullable char(5) when we need it to be "WM ".
- The replicated update statement where clause looks for "WM "
- fails at the target because it was copied in as "WM";
- This is the expected bcp behavior, per the BCP documentation.
- The purpose of keeping the padding is use with SQL*Loader into Oracle, where the full char value is needed.
- Just looking for a workaround rather than - Using 'awk/sed' to add spaces to this particular column.
- bcp data is "WM" when the column is nullable char(5) when we need it to be "WM ".
