3075912 - Is there an option to retain padding when bcping out char data?

Symptom

  • Is there a bcp option to keep the space padding on a char column when using bcp to export data?
  • For example:
    • bcp data is "WM" when the column is nullable char(5) when we need it to be "WM    ".
      • The replicated update statement where clause looks for "WM    "
      • fails at the target because it was copied in as "WM";
    • This is the expected bcp behavior, per the BCP documentation.
    • The purpose of keeping the padding is use with SQL*Loader into Oracle, where the full char value is needed.
    • Just looking for a workaround rather than - Using 'awk/sed' to add spaces to this particular column.
