3077031 - Code List Restriction Does Not Work When Associating Lead to Account

You have a Code List Restriction, to default Account Group field as value XYZ.

When associating a Lead 123 (123 represents Lead ID) to Account ABC (ABC represents Account ID), this code list does not work.

1. Go to Sales work center, Leads view. 
2. Open Lead 123. Click Actions > Associate to Account and Contact. 
3. Save and Open.  
4. See that field Account Group, in Account ABC, is not defaulted as per code list restriction - it's blank. 

When you call 'Associate Account and Contact' for an existing Lead, you are not creating a new account - You are either linking the Lead to an already existing account or you are transforming the object, that previously held the account data, (and which, technically, was already a business partner) into an account.

Since no technical account creation is happening, the defaulting via code list restriction cannot happen either.

The system is behaving as expected.
