Symptom
- When importing a Story report from one SAP SuccessFactors instance to another, the Story fails to load or displays errors.
- The issue is observed in Story reports that use template-based domains, such as Performance Management, Goal Management, 360 Reviews, Career Development Planning, Compensation, or Recruiting.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
Cause
This is a known product limitation.
Story reports that are created using template‑based schemas rely on template IDs that are auto‑generated and unique within each system. When a Story is imported into a different environment, the report continues referencing the template IDs from the source instance, which do not exist in the target instance.
As a result, the Story cannot correctly resolve schema nodes, labels, or data fields, leading to errors during execution or editing/previewing.
Resolution
Story reports that were created using template‑based schemas, such as Performance Management, Goal Management, 360 Reviews, Career Development Planning, Compensation, or Recruiting, might not work properly when transferred from one environment to another using the Import and Export functionality.
Due to this limitation, in most scenarios, the imported report cannot be repaired and must be recreated by the customer directly in the target environment.
The newly created report will function correctly as long as the underlying templates in the target instance are intact and active.
This is a known product limitation, and our engineering teams are continuing to investigate long‑term improvements to enhance supportability for template‑based schemas. Any updates will be published in this KBA as they become available.
