3078948 - Explanation about batch level usage of class 022 and 023 in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • Class 023 is used instead of 022.
  • Class 022 is missing.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Create Material (MM01) app.
  2. Select Classification tab.
  3. Class type 022 is missing, only Class type 023 is available.

Cause

The batch class used by the system depends on the configured batch level.

  • Batch level Material or Client uses class type 023.
  • Batch level Plant uses class type 022.

    Resolution

    Only class type 023 is available in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition system because the batch level is always configured at the material level and not at the plant level.

    As a result, class type 022 is not supported in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
