3081628 - SuccessFactors Employee Import Error - Failed to add/update user XXXXX: User License Limit is exceeded

Symptom

After performing a Basic Employee Import, user receives the following error message in Job email notification: Failed to add/update user XXXXX: User License Limit is exceeded

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Try to perform Employee Import or Import Employee Data (Basic Import)
  2. Import completes, and the email notification with results of the upload is received.
  3. The results show the following error in the notification:

User Import Process has reported error(s). 

You need to fix the following error(s) and re-import the users as necessary:

"Failed to add/update user XXXXX: User License Limit is exceeded."

Cause

This error is caused by incorrectly configured User License Enforcement Options in Provisioning.

Resolution

The below steps have to be followed to address the issue:

  1. Navigate to Provisioning
  2. Company settings
  3. User License Enforcement Options
  4. Select “no maximum users alert, no enforcement”



  5. Save License User

Note: All new instances are set as “No maximum user alert, no enforcement”.

Provisioning system is only available for Implementation Partners, Consultants and SAP Customer Support Engineers. Once any change on Provisioning is needed, customers need to contact their Implementation Partner or Consultant.

In case customers do not have a Partner or Consultant, a case to request this change should be created under 4th level component LOD-SF-PLT-MNG.
